Nick's Tour Notes

This tour is a fabulous day out; we’ll experience truly stunning scenery, fascinating local history, a few Cornish hidden gems and some of Cornwall’s top visitor attractions.

After collecting you from your accommodation we’ll journey by private minibus to South Cornwall stopping on the way to pick up an award-winning pasty for lunch before going on to the village of Mawnan Smith where we start the walk.

The walk is approximately 10km and can be adapted to suit the needs of the group (anything we don’t see on foot we can get to by minibus).

The moderate “figure of 8” route follows the South West Coast path along the banks of the stunning Helford River estuary.

Along the way, we’ll encounter hidden creeks, lush sub-tropical gardens, and picturesque villages from a time gone by. We will cross the river on Britain’s oldest ferry crossing and visit waterside pubs, local galleries, and the iconic Frenchman’s Creek, made famous by Daphne du Maurier’s classic novel.

The route involves taking the passenger ferry across the estuary between Helford Passage and Helford Village.  Ferry tickets are included in the price.

Whilst the packed itineray doesn’t include visiting Trebah Garden or National Trust Glendurgan we can make a small detour if you wish. Entrance to Gleddurgan is free for National Trust card holders.
